Bars across missing for a while

I am disappointed in at least 5.5.1, as earlier versions had the horizonal bars that marked the start and stop. I dont know exactly when the bars disappeared, but they have been gone for a while. This version seems mostly focused on aesthetics, not function, and to lose the horizontal bars made it useless to me as a timeline showing the relationship of durations was why I got it in the first place.

A basic feature that is missing, in my mind, is a "range of interest". I might have a timeline of many years, but for what I am working with now (such as a presentation) maybe I want to focus on a six-month period and as far as the presention goes, anything before or after is ignored for the time being. I bring this up because I have asked for it since Bronze Age man.

Before this version, it would have received 4 or 5 stars from me but now I must look elsewhere.
